It's been there all along

My favorite place - Cinque Terre, Italia

So I am hearing alot about about people planning fun trips in the near future. Gina is headed to New York, Marlene is going to Cuba, Caitlin is going to England and my friend & former roomie Tracy is going to Italy and ALL over Europe!

There is a special place in my heart that has been saved for Italy. In 2002-2003 I had the opportunity to live in Torino, Italy for 9 months during my time in college and was matched up with the four most perfect roommates! It was pure chance that we got roomed together and all actually liked eachother.

We called ourselves the "Moncal Girls"
(We lived in a flat in a little city called Moncalieri)

(Linzi, Tracy, Katrina, Leeza, Casey)

It was these ladies that actually showed me the ropes and introduced me to physical fitness & running (the first time). I did have a few opportunities to run with them around the city and workout at our fabulous little italian gym. It was all new to me then and was shortlived when I returned to the states. That is until this year! :)

Thinking about my wonderful times spent in Italy got me thinking to that Halloween in particular.

How ironic is that we decided to dress up as the Torino Marathon Team?

Or was it the Torino Drinking Team? Hard to tell in these photos.... :)

But I look at these pictures and though no actual running took place as it was Halloween it's the mindset that I was a marathon runner! It's been in there all along and I had never even realized it until this halloween the connection.

I take it as a sign that I am fulfilling a life purpose of mine. I know people run marathons ALL the time, but not everyone can say they accomplished something of this calibur. I am excited to take this challenge on and excited to know I am on the right path.

Maybe someday the Moncal ladies and I can gear up and do a Torino race. That one is going on the 'Fitness Bucket List'.

  5. Ooooh, how fun!!! I wish I could live abroad for a couple of years...and take trains to all the places I'd like to go in Europe:)

I would really love to use the excuse of a race to meet up with old pals! Especially if I get to travel somewhere cool to do it! Any races next year in Hawaii??!?!!?

  6. I LOVED Italy. We spent a week in Florence and then toured through Tuscany - Sierra, San Gimignano, Volterra, Cortona and a ton of hill towns and then another week in Rome.
I could easily live there in once my future career of lottery winner comes through.
